The Therapy at Home Movement 2.0 Program has been specially designed by our occupational therapists to encourage children to move their bodies and develop their gross motor skills.  

Using a toolbox of fun and engaging resources and The Play Way’s ideas for structured and open-ended movement activities, children will be motivated and supported to work towards improving their overall physical health.   

Created for ages 5 – 12 years old.

A block of Group Telehealth Sessions are included with this program.

The Therapy at Home Movement 2.0 Program focuses on building motivation for physical activity through a variety of games and activities that can be enjoyed solo, with a partner or with the whole family.

The games and activities have been designed to showcase the toolbox resources in a fun and stimulating way, so that children are motivated to sustain their participation and build strength and endurance.

There is a range of diverse activities that are both instructional and exploratory, so children will have the opportunity to discover supportive and engaging movement activities.

Using the instructional cards, children can engage in structured activities, such as a treasure hunt, amazing race, minute to win it games and more. The Ways to Play cards provide ideas for fun and open-ended exploration of movement tools such as a hammock swing, The Play Way’s Beat the Buzzer and spot markers.

The Movement 2.0 Program can also be purchased as part of the Therapy at Home 2.0 Bundle, which includes the Time in Nature Program and the Creative Mindfulness: Mandalas Program.

PLEASE NOTE: The essential components of the toolbox generally don’t change over time unless we are making improvements to the overall program. The specific tools included may differ at times in terms of brand, colour, and other cosmetic differences due to sourcing factors out of our control. This will not affect the therapeutic benefits of the program as intended for the participant. We recommend you only order one program per child to ensure the appropriate use of funds. We cannot tailor toolboxes or programs to suit specific requests at this time. If you order a program for multiple children they will receive the same program and toolbox. The Therapy at Home Movement 2.0 Program comes with a toolbox of resources delivered to your door that aligns with the skill building modules in the online program. This toolbox provides a practical and playful element that your child can engage with as they follow along with the videos.

The Play Way’s Beat the Buzzer to bring a sense of fun to timed games and activities

Spot markers to use as equipment for outdoor games

Flying Wing Prop Toy and Build-a-Bird Kit for chasing and catching

Pegs and skipping rope for use with hammock swing to build core and upper body strength

The Play Way’s Instruction Cards containing options for structured movement activities and Ways to Play Cards for open-ended exploration of the tools provided

Facilitator Guide including a framework for skill development and helpful tips for implementing the program at home

What skills will we build?

The Therapy at Home Movement 2.0 Program focuses on skill development in the following areas:

Gross motor skills through activities that encourage running, jumping, swinging, balancing, dancing, animal walks and more

Cognitive skills as your child uses their critical thinking and problem-solving skills to plan and complete treasure hunts, exercise circuits, scavenger hunts and more

Language and communication skills through giving and receiving instructions and learning and interpreting new vocabulary

Social skills such as turn-taking, following rules, learning from others and navigating the experience of both winning and losing

Resilience through repeated practise to work towards building physical strength, endurance, speed and mastery

Personal motivation to try or persist with new or challenging tasks through fun activities that provide opportunities for incidental movement

Wellbeing and confidence as they develop an awareness of the positive impacts that movement has on brain, body and mood

Outcome Report

This program does not include an outcome report. You can add one next to the ‘Add to cart’ button in the shop and it will appear in your cart as an additional charge.

Therapy at Home provides the option for an outcome report to be included with all Programs. These reports are a summary of the specific program outcomes measured as a result of participating in a specific Therapy at Home Program. This is not a report for decision-making at the full plan level. This is not a report for an end-of-plan review from which a planner can use to make decisions about future funds at a whole plan level.
