The Therapy at Home Lunch Box Program has been designed to provide tools, tips and inspiration to support the daily routine of packing a lunch box. Designed by a nutritionist and team of paediatric therapists, it aims to develop children’s confidence and independence in the lifelong skills of planning and packing their own lunches.

Supported by over 25 videos, children will be guided to explore foods for fruit break, recess, lunch and afternoon tea. They will also discover and learn about food properties, allowing them to gain beginning nutritional awareness and confidence to make informed food choices.

The Play Way’s Bento Set and Insulated Container Set provide the tools for building confidence, as they allow children to experiment with exploring a variety of different options in their lunch box. There is also a range of sandwich cutters to bring play into their everyday eating encounters, making food fun and therefore more likely to be engaged with.

The toolbox contains The Play Way’s Lunch Box Recipe Booklet, containing a range of no-prep, low-prep and more-prep ideas for fruit break, recess, lunch and afternoon tea. It has been designed to provide children with inspiration and food for thought as they experiment with packing their own lunch box.

There is also a range of tools to support the planning, organisation and execution of their daily lunch box routine. These include the Lunch Box Planner magnet and Lunch Box Weekly Planner, which allow for daily and weekly planning. To capture inspiration for what to pack, there is the Lunch Box Foods magnet, where children can record their ‘safe foods’ and ‘learning foods.’ There is also a magnetic shopping list, to encourage involvement in the process of organising which groceries need to be purchased for the lunch box routine.

To bring a sense of fun, the toolbox also includes the Orchard Toys Lunch Box Game as a tool for encouraging communication around various lunch box options. There is also a series of bright and colourful lunch box notes to use as a joyful addition to the lunch box.

PLEASE NOTE: The essential components of the toolbox generally don’t change over time unless we are making improvements to the overall program. The specific tools included may differ at times in terms of brand, colour and other cosmetic differences due to sourcing factors out of our control. This will not affect the therapeutic benefits of the program as intended for the participant. We recommend that you only order one program per participant to ensure the appropriate use of funds. We cannot tailor toolboxes or programs to suit specific requests at this time. If you order a program for multiple participants they will receive the same program and toolbox.
