Welcome to Therapy at Home! We’re so thrilled to connect with you here and we look forward to supporting you with the knowledge, tools and resources you need to raise a happy, healthy and confident child.

Our Story

Therapy at Home was born out of a need for children to be able to access occupational therapy services during the pandemic, however, over time it’s grown into something so impactful that we’re continuing to develop a variety of programs to deliver these services far and wide, promoting the opportunity for skill development in a flexible and accessible way for all families.

We deliver therapy that feels like play in a way that families, and their support team, can build their knowledge and skills together across settings, providing the best possible opportunity for children to reach their fullest potential.

We believe that if a child has regular opportunity to repeatedly practise a skill, enjoys practising that skill (because it’s done through play), and has a framework of support that is able to encourage and develop those skills in the home environment – they will have the greatest chance at success. And that’s what we aim to deliver.

What we do

Our approach to therapy is centred around play, which we believe is the most impactful way for children to develop and integrate new skills.

Developed by a team of committed therapists with many years of experience, our programs are practical, engaging, simple and effective in building the key functional skills children need to be happy, healthy and confident as they journey through life.

Our philosophy for child development focuses on six key areas: quality sleep, love and connection, movement, free play, time in nature, and real food. These principles are the foundation on which all our programs are built, guiding children on their journey to develop the well-rounded skills and confidence they need to thrive.

The way we deliver our Therapy at Home programs is in a package that allows children, their families, and their support teams to engage in skill building via:

  • An online program containing videos, visuals and audios
  • A toolbox of resources delivered to the doorstep

The toolbox aligns with the online program making it simple, flexible and practical to implement wherever, or whenever is best suited for the child to positively engage.

For further detail of what our programs include and to see if they might be a good fit for your child, head to the shop page to explore.

We look forward to supporting you on your journey to raising a happy, healthy and confident child.

Who we are

Our core team is a group of highly experienced Occupational Therapists who design our Therapy at Home programs and select the toolbox and kit contents for the best therapeutic value for our clients. We also collaborate with speech pathologists, child psychologists, play therapists, and positive behaviour support practitioners in the planning and design of our programs. Our clinicians are supported by a creative team consisting of trained professionals such as teachers, artists, early years educators, nutrition and yoga instructors.

Our team also includes mothers; some of whom are neurodiverse themselves, and some who are parents of neurodiverse children. We take a strengths based approach and believe that children learn best through play as they continue to explore and understand themselves while engaging in hands-on experiences.

Current evidence suggests that children participating in therapy in their natural environment, and involving their caregivers in the therapy process are likely to achieve their therapy goals and sustain these outcomes for longer.

By upskilling the whole family unit, we are building capacity and connection. This is something we are certainly seeing in practice; that our Therapy at Home model provides great opportunity for the best possible outcomes for children.

Our Therapy at Home team focuses on delivering online guided therapy programs that are self led and not time sensitive to allow children and families to grow at their own pace, and in their own space.

Our programs do not include individual sessions with a therapist.

Please visit www.theplayprojects.com to enquire about 1:1 therapy options for more structured individual support to complete our programs.
