The Therapy at Home Build it with Bricks Program 2.0 with LEGO®️ Creative Party Box builds on the executive function and communication skills developed using the roles of Engineer, Supplier and Builder in the foundational Build it with Bricks Foundation Program with LEGO®️ Classic Box and extends children with the new role of Architect.

If not yet completed, we strongly suggest that the foundational LEGO® Program is completed first, so that the therapy aspect and language requirements are familiar prior to extending on these in LEGO® 2.0.

By incorporating these roles into the five LEGO® projects, children will have the opportunity to work through varying levels of skill development as they engage with the resources provided in the program.

The five interactive and hands-on building projects are:

  1. Clown car
  2. Birthday cake
  3. Toucan
  4. Llama
  5. I’m an Architect

BONUS INCLUSION: Plan your own LEGO® party project

There is a series of guided videos to demonstrate the language and communication skills required to give, receive and process instructions for each of the roles. In addition to this, there are instruction booklets and reference cards to further support the delivery of the therapy at home.

In the initial projects, children will be guided to undertake the roles of Supplier and Builder, with the presenter scaffolding and demonstrating the communication and language requirements of the Engineer role. Then, they will be supported to assume the role of Engineer and lead others in their roles of Supplier and Builder.

The new role of Architect is implemented using The Play Way’s Architect Workbook. This resource and the accompanying videos will guide children to develop their own design for a LEGO® build and assist in, breaking down, organising and sequencing the step-by-step processes required to create their very own LEGO® instructions. It is an opportunity to let their creativity and imagination shine, while also encouraging the development of communication and planning and organisational skills.

As a bonus activity, children have the opportunity to plan their very own LEGO® party using The Play Way’s LEGO® Party Pack. Containing decorations, invitations, game ideas and a party planner, this activity is offered as a fun way to build social skills and celebrate all things LEGO®!

Beyond the program, children can continue developing skills in the areas of executive functioning, language and communication and social interactions by utilising the roles and associated resources in other LEGO® builds at home.
