The Therapy at Home Interests: Dinosaurs Program has been designed by our paediatric therapists to motivate children to engage in skill development through play.
By providing a toolbox of resources relating to dinosaurs, our hope is that children will be delighted and inspired to work towards building their capacity in a range of areas.
The program is supported by instructional cards and online videos for meaningful engagement with the themed toolbox for skill development at home.
Created for ages 4 – 10 years old.
A block of Group Telehealth Sessions are included with this program.

The Therapy at Home Interests: Dinosaurs Program has been created to delight, inspire and motivate children to work towards their goals through play.
It aims to make therapy joyful by engaging children in activities that develop new skills through their interest in dinosaurs.
As children explore and interact with the resources in the toolbox, they will have the opportunity to develop their capacity in the following areas:
- Social skills
- Language and communication skills
- Fine motor and handwriting skills
- Executive functioning skills
- Emotional regulation skills
To support the delivery of the program, there are a series of Ways to Play cards for each targeted skill. These cards contain tips for how to use the resources in the toolbox for developing each skill at home. There are also online videos showcasing the resources in action to further spark ideas for ways to play and develop skills using the themed tools.
Included in the toolbox is The Play Way’s Play Journal to encourage reflection on the experience of engaging with the activities in the toolbox. This has been designed to create a greater awareness of strengths, challenges and motivators, so that children can learn and discover more about how their interests motivate, delight and inspire them.
This style of strengths-based therapy seeks to spark engagement and promote repeated practise by encouraging interaction through a love of dinosaurs. It is an opportunity for therapy at home that is led by joy, fuelled by curiosity and driven by active engagement.
PLEASE NOTE: The essential components of the toolbox generally don’t change over time unless we are making improvements to the overall program. The specific tools included may differ at times in terms of brand, colour and other cosmetic differences due to sourcing factors out of our control. This will not affect the therapeutic benefits of the program as intended for the participant. We recommend that you only order one program per participant to ensure the appropriate use of funds. We cannot tailor toolboxes or programs to suit specific requests at this time. If you order a program for multiple participants they will receive the same program and toolbox. What skills will we build?
The Therapy at Home Interests: Dinosaurs Program focuses on skill development in the following areas:
✓ Social skills such as turn-taking, following rules and navigating the experience of both winning and losing
✓ Language and communication skills by using a themed interest to encourage them to increase vocabulary and share their insights
✓ Fine motor skills through the construction of projects that require the small muscles in the hands to manipulate the pieces
✓ Handwriting skills and the motivation to practise handwriting through engagement with the Play Journal
✓ Executive functioning skills through following instructions and planning, organising and sequencing tasks to complete the activities
✓ Emotional regulation skills by cultivating mindfulness through engagement with themed activities
✓ Mindfulness skills through present-moment awareness and sustained focus on activities that bring joy
✓ Imagination and creativity as the themed play tools are used as a springboard for further play experiences

Outcome Report
This program does not include an outcome report. You can add one next to the ‘Add to cart’ button in the shop and it will appear in your cart as an additional charge.
Therapy at Home provides the option for an outcome report to be included with all Programs. These reports are a summary of the specific program outcomes measured as a result of participating in a specific Therapy at Home Program. This is not a report for decision-making at the full plan level. This is not a report for an end-of-plan review from which a planner can use to make decisions about future funds at a whole plan level.
