The Therapy at Home Early Years Foundations Program focuses on targeting key developmental domains through play-based learning experiences. It aims to promote the development of fine motor skills, gross motor skills, language and communication, cognition and sensory exploration, while also building play skills in both facilitator and child.

The toolbox contains five key resources to support skill development at home. These include puzzles, stepping stones, an ice cream parlour, threading beads and a waterslide marble run. The intention is to create a variety of purposeful play ideas for each resource to encourage repeated practise of these skills at home.

Throughout the program, fine motor skills are targeted through puzzles, while gross motor skills are promoted using the stepping stones. Language and communication development and social skills are prioritised via imaginative play and the threading beads encourage cognitive development. Sensory exploration is fostered using the waterslide marble run.

To support meaningful engagement with these resources, the program includes a comprehensive facilitator guide that provides ideas for ways to play and extension activities for each item. As such, the toolbox is a versatile collection of resources that can be adapted to your child’s evolving developmental needs.

In addition, there is an online program featuring over 30 videos that demonstrate the resources in action and provide guidance for the facilitator to support skill development and play at home.

The program has been structured across five key projects relating to each development domain. However, the delivery of this can be tailored to the specific needs and interests of the participating child. The intention is to create multiple opportunities for play-based learning experiences and to support facilitators in fostering foundational skill development in the early childhood years.

PLEASE NOTE: The essential components of the toolbox generally don’t change over time unless we are making improvements to the overall program. The specific tools included may differ at times in terms of brand, colour and other cosmetic differences due to sourcing factors out of our control. This will not affect the therapeutic benefits of the program as intended for the participant. We recommend that you only order one program per participant to ensure the appropriate use of funds. We cannot tailor toolboxes or programs to suit specific requests at this time. If you order a program for multiple participants they will receive the same program and toolbox. All shop listing images are representative of the program theme and not necessarily literal representations of what’s in the toolbox.
