The Therapy at Home Cooking Program focuses on introducing children to key baking processes using carefully selected baking mixes.  Through these projects, children will learn a range of foundational kitchen skills, such as hygiene, knife safety, measuring, mixing and baking.  They will also be exposed to commonly used kitchen tools, such as an oven mitt, knife, measuring cups and peeler through the equipment provided in the toolbox.

There is an opportunity for sensory exposure through food play and tools for encouraging being a food investigator by using all senses to explore new foods. This is achieved through supplied activities for messy food play, but also through creating a fruit and veggie platter where the focus is on creating food artworks rather than on what is consumed.

For further extension, there are bonus recipes included for other healthy cooking projects and recipes for recreating all of the baking mixes from scratch.

NOTE:

In addition to the Cooking Program, Therapy at Home offers a suite of cooking programs:

If your child has keen interest in cooking, these programs can be explored for further skill development in these areas.

Both programs would be well-suited to follow-on from the Cooking Program as a further extension of the skills and knowledge built in this entry-level cooking program.

This program is also included in the Therapy at Home Bundle - which includes four programs plus a bonus Indoor Play Pack, which is only available as part of the bundle.

PLEASE NOTE: The essential components of the toolbox generally don’t change over time unless we are making improvements to the overall program. The specific tools included may differ at times in terms of brand, colour, and other cosmetic differences due to sourcing factors out of our control. This will not affect the therapeutic benefits of the program as intended for the participant. We recommend you only order one program per child to ensure the appropriate use of funds. We cannot tailor toolboxes or programs to suit specific requests at this time. If you order a program for multiple children they will receive the same program and toolbox. All shop listing images are representative of the program theme and not necessarily literal representations of what’s in the toolbox.
