The Therapy at Home Cooking Program focuses on introducing individuals to key baking processes using carefully selected baking mixes. Through these projects, participants will learn a range of foundational kitchen skills, such as hygiene, knife safety, measuring, mixing and baking. They will also be exposed to commonly used kitchen tools, such as an oven mitt, knife, measuring cups and peeler through the equipment provided in the toolbox.

The toolbox contains baking mixes as a way of exposing participants to beginner level cooking projects. The intention here is to build confidence with this style of cooking so that essential kitchen processes can be practised and developed. There is then the option of preparing these same recipes from scratch using the recipes provided in the instruction booklet, to extend these skills further.

The program also provides an opportunity for sensory exploration as participants are encouraged to use all of their senses to explore a variety of foods. This is achieved through supplied activities for sensory experiences using real food and also through the creation of a fruit and veggie platter with a particular focus on presentation, rather than on consuming or trying these foods.

For further extension, there are bonus recipes included for other healthy cooking projects in the instruction booklet.

NOTE: In addition to the Cooking Program, Therapy at Home offers other programs for adults:

This program is also included in the Therapy at Home Bundle: Adults - which includes three programs plus an NDIS Outcome Report and a bonus 5-piece indoor explore pack.

PLEASE NOTE: The essential components of the toolbox generally don’t change over time unless we are making improvements to the overall program. The specific tools included may differ at times in terms of brand, colour, and other cosmetic differences due to sourcing factors out of our control. This will not affect the therapeutic benefits of the program as intended for the participant. We recommend you only order one program per participant to ensure the appropriate use of funds. We cannot tailor toolboxes or programs to suit specific requests at this time. If you order a program for multiple participants they will receive the same program and toolbox. All shop listing images are representative of the program theme and not necessarily literal representations of what’s in the toolbox.
